The team of the Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) led by the Chairman, Hon. Femi Idris visited Akure North Local Government secretariat today in line with its statutory role i.e regular engagement of the local government staff on the issue that bothers around their welfare.
The commission chairman was accompanied by Dr. Bayo Ilawole, the permanent secretary to the commission, Commissioner 3, Hon. (Mrs) Ronke Ojo and other Heads of Administration.
The team was received by the Chairman, Hon. Johnson Ogunbolude, Vice-Chairman, Hon. Funmi Dapo-Filani, Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs B.O Adufe and were ushered into the hall that was already filled to the brim by the local government staff in anticipation to interact with the team.
The chairman in his opening speech thanked the Chairman of the commission for coming to have an interactive meeting with the staff, because this shows the commission prioritizes the welfare of the local government staff. He wished them a blissful stay.
The Permanent Secretary Local Government Service Commission, Mr. Bayo Ilawole opened the floor asking the local government staff to tell the commission the challenges they are facing as they are willing to be prompt in attend to those challenges.
The staff unanimously agreed that the NULGE Chairman should speak on behalf of the entire staff. The NULGE Chairman, Mr. Sanmi Alade in response presented their challenges such as prompt promotion with benefits, shortage of staff, among others to the commission.
The Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) chairman, Hon. Femi Idris in response to the yearnings and aspirations of the staff assured them of a swift response to those challenges. He charged the Akure North Local Government Chairman to engage the service of Ad hoc staff to mitigate the challenge of shortage of staff.
He enjoined the staff to be more proactive, dedicated and committed to their duties. He thanked the governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa for prioritizing the staff welfare which reflects in the prompt payment of salaries and other benefits.
