Pregnancy and childbirth are pivotal moments in a woman’s life, filled with anticipation and joy. However, for many women worldwide, these experiences can be marred by complications such as infertility, miscarriages, and stillbirths. In rural Nigeria, the challenges are exacerbated by a trifecta of misinformation, poverty, and a struggling maternal healthcare system.

The consequences are devastating: women suffer in silence, grappling with untold agony, disappointment, and unfulfillment. This is where Victoria’s Smile Foundation steps in – dedicated to transforming the lives of these women and bringing solace to their struggles.

To achieve its objectives, the foundation adopts a comprehensive three-pronged approach:

1. Financial Support: Providing economic empowerment to alleviate the financial burdens associated with maternal healthcare.

2. Emotional Support: Offering counselling and emotional reassurance to help women cope with the psychological trauma of pregnancy and childbirth complications.

1. Educational Support: Conduct sensitization programs and workshops to educate pregnant women on best practices in ante-natal care, ensuring they’re equipped with the knowledge to make informed decisions about their health.

Since its inception, Victoria’s Smile Foundation has conducted numerous sensitization programs across various Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Ondo State, Nigeria. These initiatives aim to emphasize the importance of ante-natal care for both mothers and their infants, ultimately reducing maternal and infant mortality rates.

By addressing the complex challenges surrounding pregnancy and childbirth, Victoria’s Smile Foundation is committed to putting a smile on the faces of women in rural Nigeria, empowering them to navigate these critical life stages with dignity and hope.

It is with great sadness but total submission to the will of God that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Madam Victoria Aluko, the mother of Hon. Tope Aluko Burundi, S.A to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Our matriarch departed this sinful world on the 9th of January, 2025 at the age of 87. Though she may be gone, but her kindness, prudence and selflessness touched many lives during her lifetime, and this gives us solace that she’s gone to rest with her Creator.

Our mother will be deeply missed by her family, friends, children, grandchildren, and those whose lives she touched during her lifetime.

Funeral arrangements will be announced shortly.

May our mother’s soul rest in peace.

The National Association of Akure Students (NAAS) has elected Adeyemi festus, student of Federal University of Oye-Ekiti (Fuoye) as it’s new National President, today in Akure, the state capital.
The election which was held at the Ulefunta Cultural hall was attended by Akure students across the country, stakeholders and independent observers.

A total of 28 delegates from 28 institutions were ratified to vote in the election.

According to the outgoing President, Oni Stephen, the election was free and fair. He encouraged the new set of executives to further project the image of the association.

Announcing the result of the election, the electoral Chairman, noted that the election process is very transparent.

Olusegun Ajayi emerged as the General Secretary.

Other elected officials include; Adeniyi folashade as Vice President, omotehinse Samuel as Public Relations Officer, Falana Mary Modupe as Financial Secretary.
